What’s a Post and Panel Sign?

Post and panel signs are named as such because they are comprised of vertical posts that support one or more horizontal panels.  They offer simple construction, economical materials, and great visibility.  Post and Panel signs are a great choice as they satisfy a diverse set of objectives offering both economical and more expensive options based on size, material selections, and longevity.  They are commonly used by commercial realtors, architects, builders, schools, and businesses alike offering great visibility. JGX offers a variety of post and panel sign options within a variety of materials, sizes, and shape configurations.  Contact our knowledgeable customer service team to discuss which materials and configuration are best for you, at 214-308-2727.

JGX GROUP Post and Panel Program

JGX works regularly with Commercial Realtors, Architects, Builders and Leasing companies to manage their post and panel sign programs providing full turnkey service in the DFW area.  We work with the company to establish materials, sign configurations, construction style, and design brand standards.  When the company is in need of a new sign, they simply send the copy for the sign, sign configuration, and location of installation to their assigned customer support contact and we take it from there.  Our talented designers layout the sign using pre approved templates maintaining brand standards. A digital proof is then sent for approval.  Once approved our production and installation teams efficiently produce and install the sign.  Our programs also include the following services:

  • Sign Refacing & Maintenance
  • Sign Removal
  • Sign Storage
  • Sign Recycling

The Basics of Post and Panel Signs

Post and panel signs are considered monument signs and are always freestanding. Post and panel signs are defined by their two main components — yes, you guessed it! — the post(s) and the panel(s).

The panel is the face of the sign itself, and the posts are what house it or hold it up. In most cases, these signs consist of two posts with a single flat panel in between them. Typically, they are very economically designed and use materials like wood and vinyl.

There are also permanent post and panel sign options available which are typically made of aluminum or metal and may incorporate decorative post caps, molding and trim.

You can also customize the panel’s shape, pick your colors, and add your own logos and fonts. The design may seem relatively simple, but there are quite a few different ways to make it your own!

Materials

One of the main things to consider when picking a post and panel sign is the materials.  The materials correlate to the longevity and cost of the sign.  There are countless options.

Typical Post and Panel Options:

  • One-Sided Construction
  • Two-Sided Construction
  • “L” Shaped Construction
  • A Variety of Sizes

Installation Options

  • In Ground- the posts are buried in ground to support the sign
  • On Concrete- special metal brackets are anchored to concrete in which the post attach- typically used in parking lots
  • Skid Mount- a sign base is constructed that allows the sign to be placed on any flat surface and sand bags are placed on the base to keep the sign weighted down for those windy days

Shape and Size Configurations:

Depending upon the location, unique parameters of the location, and desired viewability, we have an ideal sign  configuration to achieve the objectives. JGX offers a number of options to be certain your messaging is as eye-catching and as effective as possible to passersby.  If the sign is being placed along a street and the intent is  visibility to traffic going in both directions a two-sided sign may best to achieve meeting those objectives.  If the sign is being placed in front of a building to identify the building name or other information a one-sided sign may work best.  If a sign is being placed on a busy intersection with traffic going in several directions a “L” shaped sign with 2 sign faces will be most effective in making your message visible to all.  We offer a variety of sizes in all materials and configurations.  Keep in mind cities regulate allowable sign sizes and may require a permit depending upon use, location and length of use.

Why Post and Panel Signs Are Used

Post and panel sign systems are primarily used for secondary applications, although many schools and businesses use them as the main identifying sign for their building. The most common secondary applications generally include directional, regulatory, or informational purposes.

Post and panel signs are typically used outdoors, near the edges of sidewalks or roadways, where they can be seen easily. This style of sign is excellent for building identification, parking lot signage, and foot traffic wayfinding. You’ll often see these types of signs used in industries such as real estate, education, events, and venues. But you’ll also see them used in other capacities like directing visitors or announcing state and county lines.
