Whether you’ve seen them on Route 66 or driven past some very nostalgic historic business districts, Art Deco & Googie style signage have surely carved their niche in time. We fully understand the nuances that set these decades of classic sign making apart and are fluent in incorporating that construction style with modern elements to create something modern retro or to create something that is a full fledge timeless replica.
Making signs this way can compliment your building architecture or give your business or event that timeless aesthetic you crave. These eras never really went out of style when it comes to architecture and signage because what they insinuate is a lasting confidence in quality that has been visibly lost over the decades. Some historic districts have very strict regulations and we handle the entire permitting process from start to finish.
The term Googie derived from a coffee shop/restaurant in LA called “Googies.” It was designed in 1949 by Jim Edward Lautner who was an apprentice of Frank Lloyd Wright in 1938. He is the leader behind the 1950’s atomic influence on signage cars and architecture as those components started to take the form of the advancements into the space age. Its truly a forgotten art form, so we are always thrilled when someone has a request for this era of signage.
